As a registered engineering firm in the State of Texas, BEKN Electrical Consultants strives to provide customers with electrical system expertise and a dedicated approach for maintaining their power systems.

Leadership

President, P.E.

Ryan Mckewen

Ryan has more than 25 years of experience in power systems engineering, electrical testing, and protective relaying. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and serves as the Engineer of Record for BEKN Electrical Consultants, LLC. Ryan also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a former NETA Level 4 Certified Senior Technician. Ryan graduated from the Navy Nuclear Power Program in 2001 and served six years in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Excelsior College in 2007 and later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lamar University in 2020. His work history includes engineering and NETA field service positions with several major companies in the Houston, Texas area.

Vice President

Peter Johns

Peter has more than 18 years of combined military and industry experience in electrical systems, testing, commissioning, and power systems support. He completed the Navy Nuclear Power Program in 2001 and served honorably in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). During his naval career, Peter served as an instructor at Nuclear Power Training Unit from 2001 to 2003 and completed specialized Motor Rewind School training in 2003. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the Leading Petty Officer for the Reactor Electrical Division aboard the USS Nimitz. Since 2020, Peter has continued his professional career in the electrical industry, supporting electrical testing, commissioning, and related field services while also helping lead and manage business operations at BEKN Electrical Consultants, LLC. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from Texas State University.
